Nalanda Old Boys Association United Kingdom
Nalanda Old Boys Association consist of old boys of Nalanda College residing in the UK. Its primary objective is to establish and advance social community among Nalandian’s in the UK to achieve its outlined purpose. We also endeavour to take membership from Nalandian’s in Europe to strengthen a wider network to achieve our objectives.
Nalanda College: Since its inception in 1925, Nalanda has been a premier school with a Buddhist Identity providing primary and secondary education in Sri Lanka. With the Motto “Apadana Sobhini Pangna”, Wisdom Illuminates Character derived from Buddhist philosophy, the school’s mission is to reward Sri Lanka with noble sons with balanced personalities dedicated to serving the country. The school’s vision is to gift the world with great humans who are endowed with virtues and Wisdom.
The purpose of Nalanda Old Boys Association (NOBA UK):
1. To advance Nalanda College, its students, and staff through mentoring, scholarships, financial aids, grants, maintenance allowances, supply of equipment, and other resources required for student and staff wellbeing, student educational needs, development of pedagogies, technology, sports, extracurricular activities, and other requirements of the school.
2. To advance Buddhist philosophy and its values to the general public in the United Kingdom through events, meetings, and festivals to enlighten Buddhist philosophy.
3. To develop the capacity and skills of socially and economically deprived people of Sri Lanka to better identify and help meet their needs and participate more fully in society.
