Dear members,
We, the joint committee of Old Boys Associations of Ananda and Nalanda cordially invite you to The Big Match on Monday the 29th August 2022 at Amersham Cricket Club. We schedule to start the event at 9 am after playing the two National Anthems (Sri Lanka & U.K.) and observing 2 minutes of silence for our fallen heroes and those who we’ve lost along the way. The first match will be the over 40s fun-filled followed by the more competitive match (35 overs).
As we all know, Ananda and Nalanda are the two prominent Buddhist schools in Sri Lanka and have produced the most number of test and national players in the Sri Lankan cricketing history, from the first test cricket captain to the World Cup-winning captain.
Calibre of players who came out of the Maroon tent includes Bandula Warnapura, Wettimuny brothers, Ranathunga brothers, Dinesh Chandimal, Brendon Kuruppu, Marvan Atthapattu, Mahela Jayawardana to name a few, the list is long!
